FAQ
1 / What is your cancellation policy?
You are able to cancel a class within 24 hours. If you are unable to attend the livestream, you will be emailed a recording of the session via email shortly afterwards.
All class pass and package sales are final. No refunds.
2 / What is the difference between Therapeutic Yoga and 1:1 Sessions?
1:1 private sessions are a great option for beginners or those requiring a little more personalized assistance throughout the session regarding posture.
Therapeutic Yoga is a wholistic approach that empowers folks with tools to help support folks living with certain acute or chronic conditions.. Sessions typically include breathwork, movement and meditation. Before your first session folks will complete an intake form outlining health history and goals.
No yoga experience is required to participate in either.
3 / What are some conditions you have worked with in Therapeutic Yoga?
- Lower-back pain
- Improving posture and mobility
- Physical injuries
- Anxiety and depression
- Stress
- Life transitions
- Chronic pain
No yoga experience is required to participate.
4 / I am new to yoga, is that okay?
Absolutely! Folks can purchase a single class pass to test our online studio or choose to begin working with Angie in private sessions either online or in-person.
5 / I have impaired mobility and/or experience chronic pain or other disability, what are my options for accessible classes?
Although Cedar Coast Yoga tries their best to offer variations for poses in the online studio, it is recommended that if you are living with a condition or disability that you connect via email to discuss options. Angie has some training in accessible and chair yoga and can offer private sessions to support those who need more specialized classes.
6 / What do I need to attend the classes?
For online classes:
- A good internet connection with speakers. Ahead of each class, there will be music playing so that if you cannot hear it, you can troubleshoot ahead of class starting.
- A large enough space in your home that you can lie down in and stretch out.
- Comfortable clothing
- Water or tea to hydrate
- Optional props: yoga mat, blocks, strap, bolster, blanket(s)
*Get creative with your props! You do not need to purchase things to start doing yoga. Big books can work as blocks, a tie or leash for a strap, and couch cushions are great for bolsters!
For in-person 1:1 and in-person therapeutic classes:
- Comfortable clothing
- All other props will be provided
7 / What is the difference between Restorative and Yin Yoga?
The goal of Restorative Yoga is to deeply relax. Although we enter poses, we use props to feel fully supported so that we can let our nervous system shift into a parasympathetic state - the state of rest, digest and healing.
Yin Yoga stresses (not in a bad way!) our more plastic tissues such as fascia, tendons and ligaments to strengthen our joints and re-organize our connective tissue, working out adhesions or 'knots.' Although a state of relaxation may occur, it is a challenging as we hold poses between 1-10 minutes and practice bringing our awareness to sensation and the moment.
8 / What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, brings the practitioner to a state of awareness between being awake and asleep. It is a guided meditative practice that works with conscious relaxation and often has a rejuvenating effect.
It is recommended to do 10-20 minutes of gentle movement before practicing yoga nidra to help folks become still.
9 / I'd love to attend classes but cannot afford it right now.
Cedar Coast Yoga offers a couple sliding scale spots each month. Please get in touch for more information and/or to be put onto the waitlist.
